NVC’s Aguilar, Fontilla named All-Bay Valley Conference in women’s basketball

Arianna Aguilar and Jazmine Fontilla are among a group of four players from Napa Valley College who were named to the 2025-2026 All-Bay Valley Conference women's basketball team, Storm head coach Paul DeBolt announced.

Aguilar, a sophomore guard, and Fontilla, a sophomore point guard, were each named All-Bay Valley first-team.

The Storm's Marticia Pollard, a sophomore forward/post, and Layla Butler, a freshman point guard, were each named All-Bay Valley honorable mention.

After finishing in fourth place in the Bay Valley standings, the Storm advanced to the postseason. Aguilar scored a career-high 36 points, Fontilla had 18 points and Pollard had 11 points, but Napa Valley lost to host Sacramento City College, 96-79, in Round 1 of the California Community College Athletic Association Northern California Regionals on Feb. 25.

It was the fourth straight postseason appearance for the Storm (19-9 overall, 8-6 Bay Valley Conference), the No. 19 seed.

Aguilar averaged 15.3 points per game on 37.5 percent shooting from the field, 29.6 percent shooting from the 3-point line, and 73.5 percent shooting from the free-throw line. She played in 26 games for the Storm.

She also averaged 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.

Aguilar was named as the tournament's Most Valuable Player, as she led Napa Valley to the Storm Surge title in December. Napa Valley beat Rio Hondo College-Whittier in the championship game of the preseason invitational tournament, 71-64.

Aguilar's season totals include 53 3-pointers, 120 rebounds, 33 steals and 397 points.

She scored 20 or more points in seven games.

Fontilla averaged 16.6 points on 41.7 percent shooting from the field, 28.6 percent from the 3-point line, and 67.3 percent from the free-throw line. She also averaged 4.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in 28 games.

She was named to the All-Tournament team at the Storm Surge.

Fontilla's season totals include 28 3-pointers, 127 rebounds, 120 assists, 60 steals, 16 blocks and 465 points.

She scored a season-high 28 points in a Bay Valley game against Solano Community College-Fairfield on Feb. 11.

Pollard averaged 8.8 points per game on 47.5 percent shooting from the field and 65.1 percent shooting from the free-throw line. She also averaged 7.6 rebounds per game.

In 28 games, Pollard had 213 total rebounds, 26 assists, 28 steals and 246 points.

Butler played in 28 games, averaging 8.8 points per game on 46.7 percent shooting from the field, 23.7 percent shooting from the 3-point line, and 59.7 percent from the free-throw line. She also averaged 4.4 rebounds per game and 4.3 assists per game.

Butler's season totals include 123 rebounds, 121 assists, 61 steals and 246 points.

Savannah Jones, a sophomore from Merritt College-Oakland, was named as the league's Most Valuable Player.

Brian Gardere of Laney College-Oakland was named as the league's Coach of the Year.
