The California Community College Athletic Association named Rose Jamison, the all-time career scoring leader in Napa Valley College women's basketball history and an All-State selection as a sophomore, to the 2024-25 3C2A Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
The CCCAA announced the 2024-25 Scholar-Athletes of the Year, Ian Mowad of Palomar College-San Marcos and Clovis Community College's Rhiannon Walker, and 20 others, including Jamison, who are on the Honor Roll, in a report, on Feb. 9, at cccaasports.org.
The report said, "Mowad and Walker represent a group of 22 impressive student-athletes that are being recognized for their excellence in academics, athletics, and citizenship from the 2024-25 academic year."
Jamison, a two-time All-Bay Valley Conference player, is among the "20 runners-up for the Scholar-Athlete Award."
The report said 23 programs were also selected for Scholar Team Awards.
A Scholar-Athlete Luncheon, the report said, will be held on April 1 at the annual 3C2A Convention, at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank. It's presented by Accelerate Sports Ventures.
Jamison was a standout in the classroom and on the court during her three years at Napa Valley, as she graduated with a 3.91 grade point average, earning AA degrees in kinesiology and criminal justice, setting three all-time school scoring records, and also becoming the first NVC women's player to receive an NCAA-Division I basketball scholarship.
She is in her first season as a redshirt junior guard/forward at Bellarmine University, in Louisville, Ky., where she transferred. She is playing for the Knights on a full-ride athletic scholarship.
"What this award takes into consideration is her academics, what she did in on the court and in the community. So, it's an award for the overall person," NVC head coach Paul DeBolt said. "She was just one of a very few in the state to get that award."
Jamison was named as the 2024-25 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the Bay Valley Conference.
"Rose is just the whole package," said DeBolt. "She's just a great, great player. And she does it in the classroom. She's doing it at Bellarmine right now in the classroom. Just an outstanding student and an outstanding player."
Jamison owns three all-time school scoring records at NVC:
* Points in a game: 45-point game, against Yuba College-Marysville, on 17-of-31 shooting from the floor, 5-of-12 shooting from 3-point range, 6-of-7 from the free-throw line, along with 13 rebounds, three assists and three steals.
* Points in a single season: 615.
* Points in a career: 1,112.
"Rose put us on the map. Rose was just an incredible player for us," said DeBolt. "She was impossible to stop. She could score at all three levels. She was going to make (3-pointers). Great mid-range. Could score around the basket. Just a tough kid.
"Just a great player and a great student."
As a redshirt sophomore last year (2024-25), Jamison was phenomenal for Napa Valley, averaging 22.0 points per game on 46.0 percent shooting from the floor, 28.4 percent shooting from 3-point distance, and 73.8 percent from the free-throw line. In addition, she averaged 11.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.9 blocks per game.
She scored 30 or more points in five games last year.
She ranked among the state leaders in several statistical categories:
* Third in points per game.
* Sixth in points.
* First in free-throw shooting.
* Seventh in blocks.
* 10th in total rebounds.
* 14th in rebounds per game.
* 15th in assists.
In one of her highest honors, she was named to the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association 2024-25 All-State team. She was a third-team All-State selection.
Jamison was named first-team All-Bay Valley Conference, Bay Valley All-Academic, and CCCAA All-State Academic.
As a freshman (2022-23), Jamison made an immediate impact, averaging 15.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for Napa Valley, scoring a season-best 31 points in a Bay Valley game against Merritt College-Oakland.
She was a first-team All-Bay Valley Conference selection. She was named to the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-Academic Team.
Jamison was only able to play in three games as a sophomore (2023-24) due to an injury.
Jamison, a 2022 graduate of Rodriguez High School-Cordelia, is majoring in Integrated Studies at Bellarmine.
Jamison, who is from Fairfield, is averaging 9.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game through 15 games (14 starts). She is averaging 28.9 minutes per game.
Bellarmine plays in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
