Napa Valley College men's soccer team wins third straight game

The Napa Valley College men's soccer team won its third straight game, shutting out host College of Marin, 1-0, in Kentfield on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

Napa Valley (4-6-4 overall, 3-2-1 Bay Valley Conference) is now in third place in the conference standings.

Mario "Gio" Avina, a sophomore forward, scored in the 20th minute of the first half, lifting the Storm past Marin. The assist was credited to Jose Ramirez, a freshman forward.

Napa Valley has now scored 18 goals in 14 games.

It was the Storm's second straight win by shutout. Cadel Newton-Knotch was credited with making four saves in 90 minutes as Napa Valley's goalkeeper.

The Storm's next game is on Friday, Oct. 31 at Contra Costa College-San Pablo at 4 p.m.
